CET nationwide offers many skill-training
options. Programs are designed for young people and adults of
all backgrounds. Training Centers operate year-round, featuring
open-entry, open-exit, competency-based training; there are no fixed
“semesters.”
San Diego offers vocational English as a Second Language and GED
preparation in addition to skills training.
Students train at their own pace in a highly individualized, non-competitive
environment, with over 60% of the training conducted in a hands-on
environment. An intensive program – students attend year-round,
7 hours a day, 5 days a week for an average of 7 months. Classes
are conducted for small groups of students which reinforces the
individualized training focus.
Good work habits are learned through simulation of a business environment.
Training is integrated to include work place know-how, work preparedness,
good attendance and punctuality, and job placement. CET students
stay in training until they are placed in a job.
CET Center classes are held, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 to 3:00
p.m. Building Maintenance and Welding Fabrication classes are also
offered from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m.
