Building Maintenance Related English:
Learn and use the technical vocabulary of carpentry, electrical,
and plumbing repair, including tools and materials.
Basic Math: Learn how to perform linear
measurements and estimate repair costs typical of building maintenance.
Safety Standards: Learn and observe
OSHA safety standards for carpentry, electrical, and plumbing maintenance
repairs.
Carpentry Principles: Learn how to
construct and repair foundations, framing, stairs, windows, and
doors.
Finish Carpentry: Learn how to install windows and exterior
doors; install roofing and siding; install interior walls and ceilings,
and install one or more types of flooring.
Electrical Techniques: Learn fundamentals
about electric wire, switches, and outlets; learn and practice techniques
for troubleshooting short circuits and fluorescent light fixtures.
Finish Electrical: Learn how to install
wire in new walls and partitions; install wiring for electrical
appliances; wire boxes, fixtures, and switches; wire outlets.
Plumbing: Learn basic principles and
techniques for plumbing repair, including commonly used tools, basic
fittings, fixtures, and procedures for troubleshooting and repairing
faucets, tub, and shower valves.
Finish Plumbing: Learn how to install
toiled bowl, tank, and water supply; install wash basin, drains,
and water supply; install kitchen sink, drains, disposal, dishwasher
connection, and water supply; install bathtubs.
Blueprint Reading: Learn to read standard
blueprint codes and symbols in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
repair jobs.
Average Course Length: 900 hours (26 weeks)

(Building).
